Sacred Pathways
Worship at Trinity grounds itself in the practice and theology of Gary Thomas’ book – Sacred Pathways: Discover Your Soul’s Path to God. Simply put, Thomas argues that the Bible and Christian history are filled with people with different spiritual temperaments which lead them to worship and experience God in different ways. The Apostle Paul was an intellectual. Ezekiel encountered God through creative and dramatic visions encompassing all five senses. St. Francis found God in nature and through a simple life. Mother Theresa worshipped God by caring for others. In other words, all of these types are valid and unique and offer a helpful explanation about why we enjoy some elements of worship more than others, how we best connect to God, and even how we might grow from different worship styles that aren’t our natural pathway.
