We are intentional about creating a welcoming environment where kids infant-5th grade have fun and experience the love of Jesus. We strive to create congregation-wide participation in our children’s ministries so that everyone gets to know, appreciate and even learn from our kids.

An extravagant welcome for all children and families

Our goal is that every child and family feel invited into our community, and therefore are continually seeking to learn from our families and grow in our ability to support their role in the discipleship of their children and participation in church life. We do this by striving to ensure that our children’s ministry is trauma and disability informed, by seeking to understand and meet the needs of each child and family in our ministry, and by offering extended wrap-around care to families during times of short or long-term need. We offer trauma training to all our volunteers, and integrate best practices into our children’s ministry. At registration, families have the option to inform us of any additional needs of each child, and our Director of Children and Families Ministry follows up with each family to learn how we can best meet those needs so that the child is supported and caregivers are able to participate in worship, and extended support can be offered when needed.

Children in Worship

Sundays 10:30AM

Our nursery, birth-2ish is open from about 10:15am through the whole worship service. Our dedicated volunteers truly love the youngest members of our congregation and look forward to caring for them while parents enjoy the worship service.

During the worship service, our preschool (about ages 3 to 5) and elementary (1st through 5th graders) kids start in service and are then invited to participate in their own class. The kids leave the service with their teachers following the Children’s Moment and Blessing and go to their separate classes. Preschool kids are picked up by their caregivers from their classroom after the service. This creates a time for our younger kids to explore their faith in developmentally appropriate ways, while giving parents an opportunity to hear the sermon without distraction.

Our elementary kids return to the service after the sermon to experience communion with the congregation. During their class time, teachers lead them through a curriculum that tracks through the entire Bible over a period of three years, and typically includes a Bible lesson, prayer, and a craft or game. This is a time for kids to explore their faith in a way that is tailored for them; of course, parents are always welcome to keep their children in the service if they prefer.

Each elementary aged child in our program has the opportunity to be paired with an adult congregant who has committed to prayer for and intentionally connecting with them as their Prayer Buddy. In addition, kids and their families have the opportunity to grow in relationship with their Prayer Buddy at quarterly social events. Prayer Buddies function as an official church friend, and exist to connect our kids with adult their family can trust so that you can better influence their faith and their future.

COMMUNITY CORNER

The Community Corner (the “Corner”) is our after-school program located at Trinity that provides a welcoming and safe place for children aged 1st-5th grade each afternoon to engage in constructive and fun activities.

For the past 15 years, children from primarily Liberty Elementary school have participated in a variety of program activities at the Corner that focuses on enhancing the physical, academic, social, and spiritual aspects of childhood development. We provide opportunities and space for children to explore new ideas, engage in imaginative outlets, and join in problem-solving activities.

We also have weekly offerings such as cooking and drawing classes in which the children can activitively participate in learning a new skill. Our core mission is this: to support the families in our neighborhood and to love every child that enters our doors.
